Pupils in Year 6 have the opportunity to take their reading book home every night. It is expected that children read a minimum of four times each week. Parents/carers need to sign a child's reading record each time their child has read.
If you have any comments or questions about your child’s reading or book, feel free to write them in the reading record, but please ask your child to bring them to our attention to help us reply promptly. Your child will not be given time throughout the week to read their chosen book in class so it is vitally important for your child to read at home. Please ensure that your child has their reading record book in school on a Friday so that it is available if and when it is required to allocate merits and monitor reading progress. At home, children are encouraged to read as widely as possible. Children will need to read a school book in conjunction with their wider reading at home in line with the school's reading scheme.
