A gardening club will be starting on Friday 30th September, 2016 from 3:30-4:30. This will be run by two parent volunteers, Mrs Pottinger and Mrs Adams. We are hoping to reinvigorate the school gardens and care for them/maintain them more than we have in the past. We want to use the produce from the school gardens in our kitchens for our school dinners and deepen children’s understanding of growing and healthy eating.
Initially, there will be spaces for 12-15 children and these children will be selected via an anonymous draw.
We would like children to attend the club each week if they sign up for it as we are looking to train an expert, dedicated group of gardeners. If it is a popular club, we may alternate the children termly or half termly to enable as many people as possible to be involved.
Classes will be involved during the warmer months in which they will be taking out for gardening sessions (with direction from Mrs Pottinger and Mrs Adams who will be co-ordinating/organising the gardens and rotation of crops etc.)
During the winter months, children attending gardening club will need to bring in wellington boots and also a drink – we are expecting it to be hard work!
Finally, if your child is already committed to young voices/choir, they will unfortunately be unable to attend gardening club as the two clubs will run at the same time,
