The time of year is here when we need to get the school garden ready for the abundant crops we hope to harvest.
Gardening club is going to take place on Mondays after school until 4:20pm. The first session will be 5th March. Children MUST bring to school suitable clothing
(old clothes, hats, gloves) and, more importantly, suitable footwear (wellies, boots) as we will be out whatever the weather. If children don’t have their gardening clothing on the day, they will not be able to take part.
We have spaces for 8 children. If the club is oversubscribed, we will run it on a four-week rotation basis.
We are also considering entering the school for RHS school garden level 5 status. This will involve a separate club for particularly enthusiastic and dedicated gardeners and will be by invitation.
We are still looking for extra tools for the garden. More full size forks, trowels, sturdy hand forks and rakes. If you can help or know of someone who can, please contact the school.
We also plan to raise funds to purchase a tunnel, which will make growing easier and more comfortable sessions in wet weather.
